Olympic Lifting Overview with Lauren Miller
January 8 from 5:30-7pm
at Beyond Limits Training
Olympic lifting develops strength, speed and power unlike any other training. The Clean and Jerk and Snatch have become increasingly popular choices in training regimens. Strength coaches and CrossFit boxes are leading the trend. Maximizing hip power and explosiveness used in olympic lfiting has tremendous carry over to just about any movement or sport.
The only downside is the considerable technical experience and coaching needed to maximize efficiency in these lifts. Other key physical components include flexibility, coordination, agility and accuracy. While developing basic power movements such as the deadlift, squat and press provide a great foundation, the above factors demand great skill and practice. But, who doesn’t want to maximize strength, speed and power while also enhancing flexibility and function? Exactly. Pretty much anyone training for a purpose or sport would like all of the above.
Furthermore, these lifts provide perhaps one of the largest favorable hormonal adaptations when trained and will assist in all other compound movements. So, how do you learn more about the basics of olympic weightlifting and increasing proficiency? First, ask one of our Beyond Limits Trainers. Second, attend one of our upcoming seminars.
Lauren Miller, has a Level 1 USA Weightlifting (USAW) Sports Performance Certification in addition to her ACSM, CrossFit Level 1 Trainer (CF-L1) designations. She will be doing a free 90 minute overview Tuesday, January 8 at 5:30pm at Beyond Limits.
Also, Team USA lifter Mike Cerbus will be holding a 4 hour seminar Saturday, February 9 from 2-6 pm for $65. Spots for this seminar are very limited. Contact Us to RSVP for either event or to attend our Strength & Conditioning classes.
